Cruise/Back to School Shopping Haul

IMG_0420
This post is long over due… My 7-day cruise is steadily approaching (September! Whoohoo!), so I’ve been trying to buy things that I could wear for it. Not to mention school is starting back up in August, so I also took this as an opportunity to do a little back-to-school shopping. I went to thrift stores and department stores.

I’m not going to go too much into detail like I usually do with posts like these… Also, a lot of wrinkled clothes so brace yourself lol.
But anyway, on with it!

Here are the things I got from the Thrift Store:

(I noticed in the photos a lot of the dresses/tops look short. Which is my fault, weird angle I took the photos in.)

I don’t like this dress lol. I thought I would, but uh.. no. I’m going to cut it in half. Turn the top into a crop top and the bottom into a skirt.

(again, sorry for weird photo angle) Here are the things I got from the Department stores (Belk, Rue 21, Marshall’s, etc.):

I like this dress a lot, it looked ugly to me hung up on the hanger, but I decided to give it a chance and it’s actually reallllyyy cute on!

I’m thinking of selling this dress, maybe on eBay or something. It’s a size Medium, I couldn’t find a small, but I thought I could get away with this… I was wrong lol. It’s too big :/

Weekend Thrifting!

Hey guys! Today I went thrift store shopping! I drove over to Dunwoody/Norcross Georgia (was about a 35 min drive) and visited two stores.
so I just wanted to share the few things that I purchased. I only spent about $25.00.
I feel like the pictures really don’t do my purchases justice though! And they’re wrinkled,  hahaha!

1. IMAG0855b
Stretch blue mini skirt, I’m not totally sure what I’ll wear it with just yet, but I know I can come up with something sexy.
Price: $4.94
Brand: Zara Trafaluc

2. IMAG0856b
I really liked the patterns on this. It’ll make a good high-waisted skirt with or without a belt around it.
Price: $4.94
Brand: Giorgio Sant’ Angelo

3. IMAG0858b
It’s getting warmer, and summer will be here before we know it! I’ve got shorts in green, white, prink, blue- but none in black!  I needed these lol. Hopefully I can find more colors next time.
Price: $3.93
Brand: Forever 21

4. IMAG0860b
I thought this blouse was really nice, it’ll look really good tucked into some pants or jeans and matched with some cute accessories.
Price: $4.94
Brand: Apparenza

5. IMAG0859b
I loved this blouse when I saw it! It’s kind of sheer and the material feels really nice too. I bet this top was expensive in store!
Price: $4.94
Brand: Banana Republic

I typically don’t look at brands while I’m actually doing shopping (and neither should you :P), but I felt like I should provide the names here just so you can see the kind of deals I’m getting on things that would usually go for 10 times more.

Some Thrift Shopping Tips:

1. Try to get up and out early in the morning. I believe most thrift stores here open at about 8AM and close around 5 or 6PM. You may not think these places would be crowded but trust me, there are people trying to find fashionable things for lower prices just like you are.

2. Wednesdays are usually half off days (at least here in Atlanta), OR they’ll have a half-off deal on certain colored tags (For example: Monday, anything with a yellow tag is 50% off. Thursday, anything with a green tag is, and so on), so don’t be afraid to ask about what color is half-off that day.

3.  Sometimes you aren’t going to always find things in your size. Don’t be afraid to buy things that are in larger sizes. I wear a 2/4. A few items I got were sizes 8/10. Everything doesn’t always have to be tight fitting. And if you really find something you love and want, you can always get it tailored in, or tailor it yourself.

4. Check the MENS racks. You can usually find good (for an over-sized) sweaters, nice denim blouses, and button downs. Again, don’t let the big sizes scare you. You can work it!

5. Explore! Sometimes you may need to travel to a different area of town to find better clothes. You know what I mean? Like, nicer/wealthier communities tend to donate better items to their local thrift stores.

6. When you get home from shopping, wash your new purchases. There is no telling who last wore what you bought or what happened to it. Just give it a good washing.

I’ve decided I’m going to compile a small list of good thrift stores that you can go to here in Atlanta, so be on the look out for that in the near future!
I hope these tips will be helpful to some of you, if you have any questions or more tips feel free to share in the comments section.

Enjoy the rest of your evening~!
