Skin 79 BB Cream + My Application Technique

I’ve always been interested in BB Cream for years now. I’m sure many of you have heard of it by now, considering the trend sweeping across Western Beauty Brands… But I’m not talking about the Western BB Creams. I’ve been interested in BB Creams long before Western companies began attempting to create their own wanna-be versions (and maybe many of you have also known about them before too!).

The “BB” in BB cream stands for Beauty Balm, Blemish Balm, Beauty Base, or Beblesh Balm. It was originally created in Germany, but became very popular in East and Southeast Asia.

The cream is meant to act as a primer, moisturizer, sunscreen, while also giving light coverage. Different BB creams have different benefits, such as “Anti-Wrinkle”, “Whitening”, “Brightening” “Sebum Control”, and so on.
There are many brands, but today I’m only going to speak about the two that I purchased awhile ago. As a black woman, I’m also going to explain how I wear it. Many BB Creams are usually too light for darker skintones, but that doesn’t stop me!)

So these are the first Korean BB Creams that I’ve ever purchased, I’ve used different Western brands and to put it rather bluntly, they sucked. Being that they are western brands, they also have no excuse not to make BB cream for women with darker skintones (and many brands have done very poorly in that department).

This brand of BB that I have is Skin 79, as you can see, they also came with small samples (which I don’t plan to open or use until I’m out of my current BB).

Skin 79: SUPER+ Beblesh Blam: Triple Functions

The benefits that this BB provides is Whitening, UV Protection, and Wrinkle Improvement.

I’ve been using this BB for over a month now, and I have to say that I really like this product. I especially like the way it makes my skin look. As far as it’s “benefits” go though, I don’t believe this product whitens,  and seeing as how I’m not trying to bleach/whiten my skin (granted my face is darker than the rest of my body), that doesn’t bother me at all. And I happen to have smile/laugh lines and a single (frown/worry?) line in my forehead, but I haven’t noticed much difference with those either, haha!

Skin 79: VIP GOLD COLLECTION: SUPER+ Beblesh Balm

Again, this BB is supposed to provide the same benefits. I actually don’t use this one as often as it’s pink counterpart though. It has a more grey-ish tint (even under my makeup) which doesn’t really sit well with me. Maybe I need to work with it more, but until I do it’s not particularly my favorite.

Price: $13.99 (free shipping, on Amazon)

Website: VIP Gold Super+ BB Cream

(You can find way more information on both products on the website links I provided. )

The swatches actually look very similar in this picture. (Pink is on the left, Gold on the right). But the Gold is really more grey-ish when I put it on my face!IMAG0339

IMAG0338And these are the samples. 2 Gold (the one I purchased), and One Orange- Which seems to have the exact same functions as the BB Creams that I have, but I’m going to guess maybe it’s a different tint/skintone. I’ll find out when I finally open it. :P

And now I’ll show how *I* wear these BB creams. Obviously, they’re too light for me. Someone with a lighter skintone could wear this BB Cream without any other makeup if they wanted to, but I can’t get away with that. So after I apply it on certain parts of my face and blend it in, I apply my (MAC) concealer/foundation on top of it.

I’m going to use this face canvas that I drew to explain. This is typically where I place the BB cream.

face_bbcream_canvas

I don’t use a lot. And you don’t want to use a lot either or else it’ll stand out too much under your foundation and have you looking ghostly. I simply pump a small amount onto my index finger and dot it onto my face in these areas: 1.On my forehead between my brows, 2. the tip/bridge of my nose, 3. under my eyes, and 4. on my lower cheeks/jaw (sometimes a little higher)

And then…

face_bbcream_canvas2

I just blend it in! I blend the area between my eyebrows/on my forehead to meet the bridge of my nose. I blend under my eyes, but I don’t blend it out so much that it’s spreads all over my face. and I blend out my lower cheeks/jaw upward, onto the outer perimeter/sides of my face (up to about where my ears start- not on my ears though lol) Also, I typically apply my BB this way because this is where I usually have blemishes on my skin (lower cheeks/jaw that I explained) and so those are the areas that I try to cover a little bit. So maybe you will want to figure out what best suits your face, depending on what you want to cover/fix.

And from there, I apply my Mac Concealer and Foundation on top and go through my usual makeup routine. Sometimes, after I’ve finished applying my foundation, I also like to apply a little more BB back under my eyes and on the bridge of my nose and blend it in (for a brighter under eye look). But, that’s about it! :) I definitely plan to expand my Korean BB collection and I’ll be reviewing them as I go along!

I hope this is helpful to someone. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I’ll do my best to help you out.

EyeCandy’s Circle Lens Review

Image

Hey you guys!

So if you remember this post and the tips I gave here: https://vivalabitch.wordpress.com/2013/03/

You’ll remember that I purchased some circle lenses not long ago. Well, I finally got around to taking a few pictures. I still have a sucky camera unfortunately. :( I tried to hold off until I got another but, oh well. Hopefully these photos will do for now. I took them all at different times/on different days.

~*Some more quick tips I want to give: Sometimes the circle lenses might feel weird if you’re new to them or if there happens to be hair/particle on it. Don’t let that cause you to think there is something wrong with the lens itself.

1. Rinse it with the solution to make sure there is nothing on it.

2. Make sure they aren’t inside out!!

I just wanted to mention this because I have dogs and kept getting tiny stray floating hairs over them and it really pissed me off and my lenses had flipped inside out and were causing discomfort initially.*~

Anyway, on to the review!!!!

First we have my eyes without any lenses:

My eyes are a dark brown, so I’m always worried about lighter lenses not showing well.

1. The Geo Magic Black

DSCF4603b

Purchase: http://www.eyecandys.com/geo-magic-black/

Price: $24.38

Comfort: 5/5

My Thoughts: These make my eyes look huge hahaha, very baby dollish like. Though, my mom said it looked more like I was possessed! I like them though, I plan to wear them more when I’m going for a sweeter/cute look.

2. Royal Vision Pinky Brown

DSCF4610b

Purchase: http://www.eyecandys.com/royal-vision-pinky-color-brown/

Price: $29.60

Comfort: 5/5

My Thoughts: I felt like these didn’t really show up on my eyes as well as I thought they would. I mean if you look at the photos on the website versus how they look on me… Hahah, riiiight. Then again, you have to consider my shit camera too. They do look better in person. It’s not like I don’t like them, because I really do. I think they look very natural.

3. GEO Tri-Color World Gray

DSCF458bb

Purchase: http://www.eyecandys.com/geo-tri-color-world-gray/

Price: $29.60

Comfort: 5/5

My Thoughts: These are honestly my favorite. I was surprised they showed up this well. I think the flash on my camera made them look brighter than they actually are. In person they don’t make my eyes appear THAT light, at least to me they don’t. I just love these so much. I feel like they also look pretty natural. I’m considering buying the whole GEO Tri-Color World series! You can see what those look like here: http://www.eyecandys.com/tri-color-world-series-14-0mm/

And so that’s all!! You’ll see more and better pictures of these of course, I love these lenses and have no problem wearing them on a regular basis (like to school or clubbing, wherever I choose). And to others than plan to wear them on a daily basis, don’t wear them over 8 hours. You can get away with 9/10 but seriously, don’t push it unless you want to screw up your eyes. And absolutely DO NOT go to sleep in them.

That’s it~ Later!

New Circle Lenses + Tips!!

My circle lenses finally came!

540827_1755726128989_1124489548_n

I purchased mine from http://www.eyecandys.com

But before I can wear them, there a few things I need to do…

1. Check to make sure they are authentic.
Go to this link http://www.eyecandys.com/authenticity-safety/ on the eyecandys website and it’ll tell you a number of ways to check for fake lenses.

If you purchased GEO lenses, there should be a code on the bottom of both of your capsules.
Scratch the sticker to reveal the code and go to the GEO Authenticating website (geo.fw1860.com). Enter your code there to make sure they’re real!

If you get this screen:

geo_pic

You are good to go!!!

If you purchased a brand that doesn’t have an authenticating website and code like GEO does, then just be smart about it.
For example, all circle lenses should read “Made in Korea” or if you put them on and they don’t feel comfortable: TAKE THEM OUT IMMEDIATELY!!

2. Go wash your hands. You must ALWAYS have clean hands when you handle your lenses.

3. Put your lens in it’s case and soak your lens (not with the liquid in the bottle) with your contacts solution.
You have to let them soak for at least 6 hours, but I’m going to let mine just sit over night.

So, until tomorrow~! <3
