Show n’ Tell 2

First, I want to thank those who voted on my 2nd What to Wear poll!! Here are the results:pollresults

There was a tie between two outfits (I wish there could’ve been a tie breaker, perhaps if I had posted the poll earlier lol)
I ended up taking it upon myself to choose between the two outfits in the end!

I liked the pattern on this dress but when I got home and tried it on I soon learned that it’s rather… shapeless/boxy :/ Maybe it’s just me, I don’t know. It has little pockets though, I thought that was cute.
$8.00

My first low/high maxi skirt :P
$9.00

Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails nail strengthener. I haven’t used this type of nail polish treatment in awhile. I feel like it works really well, I mean you guys have seen how long my nails can grow. ;D>
So I stand by it!
1.99 (was on sale)

My grandmother gave me these to cheer me up. (I was the only one out of my siblings running errands, getting things together yesterday for my mom’s bday- AND I got a flat tire doing it… so I was just totally pooped and annoyed by the time I was done >_>.)

(Lucky) Fashion Find! Poka Dot Dress

4419d8ecd9dd11e2aec022000ae80f8c_7

I had this really cute blue and white polka dot dress that I found at a thrift store a few years ago, it was seriously one of my most favorite dresses!

It’s a heart shaped dress with pleats in all the right places and white buttons going down the front.

Unfortunately a red article of clothing found it’s way into my wash while I was doing laundry, turning the white dots on the dress a pinkish colour. I was devastated. -_-

Oh, but that wasn’t the only thing that ruined it…. On top of that, bleach later found it’s way onto my beautiful dress!

Now that just pissed me off.

I was never going to be able to wear this dress again!!

Until one day… I went to the thrift store. This store didn’t have anything especially great, not to mention that for old second hand clothing a lot of it was overpriced.. I wasn’t expecting to find anything great.

But low and behold……

Price: $3.99
Size: 4
Brand: MODA INTL

I found it! The exact same dress!!! Aaah, I was beyond happy. It really put me in a good mood for the rest of the week hahahaha.

I still have the ruined dress, take a look.

(same brand/dress, size 6)

I was going to throw it out, but now I’m wondering if I can bleach the whole dress (100% Rayon fabric) and turn it white…?

Hmmm…

Weekend Thrifting! (2)

I went thrifting again and found some great things.

This time I went some place a little bit closer to me. I think it might be my new favorite thrift store. If anyone in Georgia wants to check it out, it’s located here: 3303 Centerville Hwy, Snellville, GA, 30039 (Goodwill, next to the Ingles grocery store)

This time I spent a total of $33.46 (tax not included) on 8 items.

1.1370121358531b
4 pairs of shorts

2 x denim
1 x tanned(?)
1 x pink gym shorts- the funny thing about these shorts is that they say “GT” on them, I still would have gotten them regardless… but GT stands for Georgia Tech (Georgia Institute of Technology). A school where all of the super duper smarties go. I’m not even trying to front like I went to that school, currently go to that school, or have any plans to go to attend that school lmao! It would be nice if I knew how to remove the logo… anyone know? *shrugs* oh well.
Price: $3.93 each
Brands:  1st (never heard of it, couldn’t even find it with google o.o), Bongo, Paris Blues, Champion

The REAL color. The flash made it appear lighter in the other photos

A green blouse, it’s really sheer and although it’s long sleeve the fabric makes me think it’ll still be light and airy. And I don’t know if you can see it, but there is a small dotted stain on the front of the blouse. Hopefully it’ll come out.
Price: $4.94
Brands: Courtenay

3. 1370120674688b
A jogging bra! Whatwhat!!! I needed it badly too haha, I…. shrank e_e out of my old one. *sigh*
Price: $2.92
Brands: Champion

Another sheer blouse. I have zero collar shirts like this, I really love it. Had to have it!
Price: $4.94
Brands: Forever21

My most favorite find of them all!! I have to work on the back zipper a little bit, but it’s nothing serious. I initially thought it was a dress (found it on the dress rack), but after trying it on, I was like… no… I’d have to definitely wear short/pants/skirt under this. I love the pattern sooo much. Only problem is I have no clue what shoes to wear with it. Any ideas?
Price: $4.94
Brands: N/A (:( I really want to know where I can find more things like this!!!)

And that’s it. :)

Weekend Thrifting!

Hey guys! Today I went thrift store shopping! I drove over to Dunwoody/Norcross Georgia (was about a 35 min drive) and visited two stores.
so I just wanted to share the few things that I purchased. I only spent about $25.00.
I feel like the pictures really don’t do my purchases justice though! And they’re wrinkled,  hahaha!

I loved this blouse when I saw it! It’s kind of sheer and the material feels really nice too. I bet this top was expensive in store!
Price: $4.94
Brand: Banana Republic

I typically don’t look at brands while I’m actually doing shopping (and neither should you :P), but I felt like I should provide the names here just so you can see the kind of deals I’m getting on things that would usually go for 10 times more.

Some Thrift Shopping Tips:

1. Try to get up and out early in the morning. I believe most thrift stores here open at about 8AM and close around 5 or 6PM. You may not think these places would be crowded but trust me, there are people trying to find fashionable things for lower prices just like you are.

2. Wednesdays are usually half off days (at least here in Atlanta), OR they’ll have a half-off deal on certain colored tags (For example: Monday, anything with a yellow tag is 50% off. Thursday, anything with a green tag is, and so on), so don’t be afraid to ask about what color is half-off that day.

3.  Sometimes you aren’t going to always find things in your size. Don’t be afraid to buy things that are in larger sizes. I wear a 2/4. A few items I got were sizes 8/10. Everything doesn’t always have to be tight fitting. And if you really find something you love and want, you can always get it tailored in, or tailor it yourself.

4. Check the MENS racks. You can usually find good (for an over-sized) sweaters, nice denim blouses, and button downs. Again, don’t let the big sizes scare you. You can work it!

5. Explore! Sometimes you may need to travel to a different area of town to find better clothes. You know what I mean? Like, nicer/wealthier communities tend to donate better items to their local thrift stores.

6. When you get home from shopping, wash your new purchases. There is no telling who last wore what you bought or what happened to it. Just give it a good washing.

I’ve decided I’m going to compile a small list of good thrift stores that you can go to here in Atlanta, so be on the look out for that in the near future!
I hope these tips will be helpful to some of you, if you have any questions or more tips feel free to share in the comments section.

Enjoy the rest of your evening~!
